The corridor or hall is usually an area of ​​the house with little natural light or even without it. And if we add to this that it is generally the first thing we see when we enter the house, it denotes the importance of lighting it properly and aesthetically.

Here are some tips:

• Plan the points of light: It is key to achieve uniform and well-distributed lighting. To create a pleasant and decorative atmosphere, it is recommended to combine different types of lamps, such as wall lights, spotlights and beacons. It is common to make the mistake of concentrating all the lights on the ceiling, which can break the harmony of the room.
• Adapt to the space: It is crucial to keep in mind that we should not illuminate a narrow and long corridor in the same way as a square one. In long corridors, it is important to avoid the "tunnel" effect, to achieve this it is recommended to combine the use of spotlights with sconces or beacons. If we choose to install only spotlights, it is advisable to avoid centering them in the corridor and placing them close to the wall.
• Focus on the decoration: If your corridor has decorative elements such as paintings, shelves or wallpapered walls, take advantage of it and highlight them with the light. In this way, the corridor will have personality and will be visually impressive.

Despite initial appearances, hallways offer opportunities to explore different lighting options based on their particular characteristics. Due to the absence of much furniture in this space, light tends to take on a more prominent and predominant role.

The number of lumens needed to illuminate a hallway or corridor can vary depending on a number of things, including the size or shape of the space, ceiling height, and the desired light level.

Although there is no exact measurement, as a general guide, a range of around 100 to 300 lumens per square meter is recommended.

However, if we want to highlight pictures or cabinets in the hallway through accent lighting, it is necessary to increase the level of light in that specific area.

The choice of light color is a personal preference and depends on the style and atmosphere that we want to create in the hallway. However, since the corridor is a passage area, warm light (2700K-3000K) is usually the most common choice due to its feeling of comfort and warmth.

Another option is natural white light (4000K-4500K), which is closer to natural light.
